Frequently Asked
Questions

What is your hourly rate?

MH Aviation’s shop rate is $125/hour. Substantially less than many maintenance facilities in the LA area.

What are the requirements to start flight training?

To begin training, you simply need to be a U.S. citizen (or complete TSA clearance) and be able to read, speak, and understand English. To solo, you must be at least 16 years old and hold a Student Pilot Certificate and FAA Medical Certificate.

Are there budget-friendly training options?

While we do not currently offer direct financing, our aircraft rates are already among the most competitive in the region ($155/hr vs $205/hr average). Our 'pay-as-you-go' structure allows you to fund your training at your own pace without the burden of long-term debt.

How long does it take to get a Private Pilot License?

The FAA minimum is 40 hours, but the national average is closer to 60–70 hours. At MH Aviation, our open schedule and in-house maintenance availability often allow students to finish closer to the minimums than at busy, congested schools.

Why should I train at Fox Field (KWJF) instead of LA?

Fox Field offers less air traffic congestion, meaning you spend less time taxiing and holding, and more time flying. Additionally, the high desert winds provide excellent training conditions to master crosswind landings.

What specific maintenance services do you offer?

We provide a full range of general aviation maintenance services including annual and 100-hour inspections, aircraft squawks, sheet metal repairs, avionics installations, pitot-static and transponder checks, and magneto overhauls.

What is your hourly labor rate?

MH Aviation’s shop rate is $125 per hour, substantially less than many maintenance facilities in the Los Angeles area.

Do you offer pre-buy inspections?

Yes, we frequently do pre-buy inspections if the aircraft is local to our facility or it can be flown to us

What are your FBO hours?

MH Fuels and our FBO facilities are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Fueling is available 24/7; after-hours call-out fees may apply.

Do you have amenities for transient pilots?

Yes. We offer a remodeled facility with private briefing rooms, a comfortable lobby, a kitchen, and clean restrooms for pilots and crews.

Uncompromising Standards

The Art of
Aviation Safety

At MH Aviation, we believe that the soul of flight lies not in the air, but on the ground, in the meticulous, often unseen hours spent ensuring every rivet, piston, and circuit is functioning in perfect harmony. In an industry where "good enough" is a dangerous phrase, we have built our reputation on a philosophy of absolute obsession. We do not simply repair aircraft; we curate them. As a premier FAA Part 145 Repair Station, our maintenance floor is a sanctuary of precision, where the standard is set far above the regulatory minimums.

We understand that when a student steps into the cockpit for their first solo, or when a seasoned pilot navigates through complex weather, their confidence is directly tethered to the integrity of the machine. That is why we operate on a "Zero-Inference" policy regarding mechanical health. If a component shows even the slightest hint of fatigue, it is replaced. If a system operates within limits but below our personal standards, it is overhauled. We refuse to defer safety for the sake of economy.

This creates an ecosystem where our fleet is not just available, but truly mission-ready. While other schools may struggle with downtime, waiting on third-party mechanics or juggling deferred maintenance items, our in-house team of master technicians ensures that our aircraft are the most reliable in the valley. We treat every aircraft in our hangar as if our own families were strapped into the seats, because often, they are. This personal stake in the quality of our work drives a level of accountability that no checklist alone can enforce.

From the deep rumble of our multi-engine trainers to the agile response of our Cessna fleet, every sound you hear is the result of thousands of hours of expert care. We invite you to look closer at our fleet. You will see cleaner engines, clearer logs, and a level of transparency that is rare in general aviation. At MH Aviation, we don't just teach you to fly; we provide you with a machine that honors the gravity of flight, allowing you to focus on the horizon with total peace of mind.
